Why You Should Use It:
Google AdSense is an easy way to monetize your site or blog. Simply sign up for an Adsense account, copy paste some code onto your site pages or blog posts and you’re good to go. Once it’s set up properly, you can just forget about it and collect the $$$.
There’s a good variety of ad formats and Google will tell you which formats work best.
The Google Adsense ads will be served up automatically based on the text surrounding the area you placed the ad in. Google has a separate indexing service for their ad network. Advertisers can also directly target your site if it’s popular enough, allowing you to potentially set up a more lucrative deal with the advertiser directly.
There’s no minimums on the amount of traffic required to sign up. You can start right away even with a low volume of traffic. It is recommended, though, to to wait for 1-3 months on a new site before putting up any ads.
However, before running to go and do this, be smart about deciding to put these ads on your site. Remember that when someone clicks on an ad, they’ve left your site and gone somewhere else. Be smart and collect emails for a subscriber list that you sell to directly. Also check to see what kind of ads are showing up on your pages and perhaps block some groups of advertisers. You do have some control over the types of ads showing up.
Google’s payments will come in like clockwork so you won’t need to worry about chasing down any payments from the ad network.
